May 8, 1913, at Grace Hospital, John, beloved husband of Ida, nee Klef, and father of Norman, Martha, Alice and Edna. Funeral from residence, 487 Sixteenth st., Saturday 2 p.m.
(The Detroit News Saturday May 10, 1913) Also in same newspaper on The Death List is John Santimers (sic) 37 years, Grace Hospital, erysipelas. (Posted by a volunteer, no family connection)

John Alexander Santmire - Grandma Ethel brother. John was born in 1877 in Ohio, In Ontario, Canada 1902 he Married Ida Mary Kief. Ida was born in 1881 in Michigan. The 1910 Census finds them living in Detroit Michigan with two children. Son Norman born 1906 and Dau Martha born in 1908.

John died on 8 May 1913 at Grace Hosiptal I have his Obituary and it says his wife was Ida Kief and his children were Norman, Martha, Alice and Edna (He was 37 at time of death)

By 1920 the family had fallen apart. The 1920 Census I found:
Norman Santmire was an inmate age 14 at Saint Francis Home & Orphan for Boys in Detroit Michigan.
Martha Santmire was an inmate age 12 at Saint Vincent’s Orphan, Asylum in Detroit Michigan
Alice Santmire was an inmate age 10 at Saint Vincent’s Orphan, Asylum in Detroit Michigan
Edna Santmire living with William and Anna Trilck age 7 (Anna is Ida Sister)

27 Nov 1920 Ida Santmier married John Fisher in Detroit Michigan --- I am assuming this is John’s wife

By 1930 I was able to locate some of them. 1930 Census:
Norman Santmire stationed at Fort Rugerth In Honolulu Hawaii in the Army
Alice Santmire employee age 20 at St Vincent Orphan, Asylum -- Maid
Edna Santmire living with William and Anna Trilch age 17 working as a Servant for Pewater Family

Norman Santmire died in April 1977 has born 28 may 1905
