Married, twice. She was about 36 when she married Jake Lewandowski ca. 1947. Jake was a widower with 7 children. He died of pneumonia in 1952, at the age of 46. A few years later, Helen married Bruce Donaldson, and they remained married until Bruce's death at age 78 in January 1988. Shortly after they wed, they moved to the Charlevoix-Petosky-Harbor Springs area of MI, where they owned and operated small businesses. Helen died on April 9, 1993, about six weeks before her 82nd birthday. She had suffered a stroke a few weeks before her death, but had been in poor health for years, with Parkinson's disease. Helen and Bruce are buried at Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan, Charlevoix County, MI.
