WATERTOWN, N.Y. – Shirley M. Rapholz, 77, of 326 N. California Ave., died at her home on September 1 at 9:25 a.m.

Arrangements are with the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. There will be no funeral. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Born on June 17, 1929 in Watertown, NY, daughter of the late Charles & Margaret Pelo Gilbo, she attended Watertown schools.

She married Edwin Rapholz of Cape Vincent on November 17, 1956 in Pennsylvania. The couple then resided in Watertown.

Mrs. Rapholz worked at Empsall's Department Store, where she worked in the China Department and stock room at a young age. She was a crossing guard for the Watertown City School District for over 30 years and worked for Hughes Cleaning Service for several years, retiring in 1994 due to disability.

Mr. Rapholz worked for over 30 years for L.A. Moore Pest Control in Utica, retiring in 1991.

Among her survivors are her husband, Edwin J. Rapholz of Watertown, two sons, Edwin C. Rapholz of Ruskin, FL and Richard L. Rapholz of Watertown, two daughters and two son in laws, Deborah L. & Michael G. Bellinger of Watertown and Barbara A. & David M. Tankersley of Syracuse, a step son and his wife, Robert G. & Valarie Rapholz of Watertown, a sister in law,
Marjorie Facey of Watertown, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A step daughter, Karen A. Rapholz died in 2004, a brother, Clarence "Jack" Gilbo and a sister Gladys Monica died before her.

She enjoyed going to rummage sales and spending the summer at their camp on Chaumont River during the summers.

Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in Watertown, N.Y.
