Notes for Andrew Jackson Lynch


Death certificate lists DOB 25 Jan 1864. Marker lists DOB as 1858. Actual DOB was Jan 25, 1861.

Andrew Jackson Lynch came to the United States from Canada between 1881 and 1885. What he did during those years is currently unknown. In 1885 he was living in Tacoma, Washington.

He filed his Declaration of Intent for Citizenship in 1892. His father was born in Ireland, his mother in Canada.

He married his first wife Maggie M Chandler (d/o Albert and Elizabeth Englehart Chandler) in August of 1891, in Tacoma, Pierce County, WA.
He was the driver for Fire Engine Co. #1 in the first regular fire department in Tacoma, WA.
Maggie bore him 5 children before her death.
Shortly thereafter he married Ella Dillon, and they had 4 more children, before divorcing a few years later.
He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in April of 1906.
Andrew lived out the rest of his life in the Yakima County area, and is buried with his first wife Maggie in Tahoma Cemetery.
Grant Lynch, his son, and Maggie's parents, Albert and Elizabeth Chandler are nearby.
Shaw and Sons handled funeral arrangements.
