Notes for Harriet Rose Anderson
Harriet R. Ahles age 78 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Sunday December 30, 2012 at her residence.
Harriet Rose Ahles was born on August 28, 1934 in Crookston, MN to Oscar and Mary Mulcahy Anderson. She grew up and received her education in Crookston, graduating from Crookston Cathedral High School. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Ahles on June 4, 1955 in Crookston, MN. Over the years they lived in Santa Ana, CA, Minot, ND, Thief River Falls, MN and Mankato, MN before moving to Detroit Lakes in 1976. Harriet worked at JC Penny in Detroit Lakes for several years.
Harriet was an avid reader. She also enjoyed her bridge club and was a member of the Catholic Daughters. Harriet was a huge hockey fan. She was the Ultimate Hockey Mom, spending countless hours transporting kids to and from the rink, and attending her kid's games both home and away. She was also a very generous, giving person who loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
She is survived by five sons, Rob (Carrie) Ahles, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Jon (Liz) Ahles, of White Bear Lake, MN; Chris (Tina) Ahles, of Lino Lakes, MN; Tom Ahles, of Chippewa Falls, MN; and Matt Ahles, of St. Paul, MN; one daughter, Amy (Brian) Haire, of Detroit Lakes, MN; eleven grandchildren, Justin, Casandra, Danielle, Luke, Lily, Amanda, Lauren, Matthew, Jackson, Logan, and Maggie; two great grandchildren, Lela and Dakota; one sister, Jean Arneson, of Miami, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Ahles (1995); two sisters, Helen Abrams and Joan Vick; one brother, Davey Anderson; one grandson, Samuel Haire; and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday January 2, 2012; 1:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Visitation: Tuesday 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Crookston, MN, (Thursday, January 3 at 1:00 pm).
