Eugene F. 'Gene' Britain
PENDLETON - A family graveside service was held Friday for Eugene F. "Gene" Britain at Olney Cemetery, Pendleton.
Mr. Britain, 77, of Pendleton, died Wednesday, Nov 10, 1999, at his home.
He was born Nov 2, 1922 at Pilot Rock, to Frank J. and Anna M. Bashor Britain. He lived his entire life in Pendleton. After serving in the U.S. Army Engineers in World War II, he worked at McCormack Construction Company for many years, until his retirement.
On April 12, 1947 he married Betty M. Moore in Pendleton. Mr. Britain loved his family, his dogs, building and repairing anything, including hunting and fishing, especially for Deschutes River Steelhead.
Survivors include his wife Betty, of Pendleton; two sons, and one daughter; two brothers, Charles Britain of LaGrande, and Virgil Britain of Aberdeen, Wash; four sisters, Marie Blakely of Portland, Patricia Massey of Mesa, Ariz., and Ruth Hoover and Edna Peterson both of Pendleton; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Jr., and Jack; sister, Bertha; and grandson, Kona Britain.
Burns Mortunary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
