PENDLETON - Ruth L. "MoMo" Hoover, 78, a Pendleton native, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Good Samaritan Center in Hermiston.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Bishop Funeral Chapel in Pendleton. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for viewing.

Mrs. Hoover was born in Pendleton, Feb. 15, 1926, to Frank and Anna May Bashor Britain. She grew up in Pendleton and attended local schools.

On Jan. 8, 1945, she married Homer E. Hoover at Walla Walla. They lived in Pendleton until 1950 when they moved to La Grande where they lived for many years, raising their family and enjoying hunting and fishing with good friends. She was never out of contact with her family of five brothers and three sisters, and eventually moved back to Pendleton for a short time, only to return to La Grande, where she enjoyed living.

Mrs. Hoover was a avid Portland Trailblazer fan. From the very first game, she knew the players, the scores, and their standings at all times. She enjoyed staying at the beach whenever she could and enjoyed spending time at family camp in the mountains and playing pinochle and Yatzee.

She was active in the Pendleton Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was a deaconess for several years and had spent many hours sewing for various needs and was always ready and willing to help when asked.

Survivors include daughters, Diana Struntz of Hermiston, and Carol Boothe of Astoria; brothers, Charles Britain of La Grande, and Virgil Britain of Aberdeen, Wash.; sisters, Edna Peterson of Pendleton, and Patricia Massey of Hermiston; a granddaughter, Mindy Struntz, and grandsons, Jesse Boothe and Wesley Boothe; three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, by her parents, by brothers, Gene Britain, Jack Britain, and Frank Britain, and sister, Marie Blakley.
