Birth: Apr. 12, 1936 Death: Jan. 15, 2009 Helen Marie Gerkin, 72, of Bedford, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.Born April 12, 1936 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Orville and Mary (Meadows) Pruitt. She was a homemaker.Survivors include children, Randy Gerkin and his wife, Carol of Mitchell, Billy Gerkin and his wife, Hazel of Bedford, Mary Berry and her husband, David of Oolitic, Tammie Wease and her partner, John Tolliver of Salem, Jimmy Gerkin and his partner, Dawn of Indianapolis; two sisters, Patricia Holt and her husband, Bob of Bedford, Mary Bea Patrick and her husband, Don of Bloomfield; one brother, Johnny Pruitt of Bloomington; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Mike Gerkin; two brothers, Tommy and Howard Pruitt and a sister, Carol Whyer.Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 19th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Frank Ira officiating. Burial will follow in Pinhook Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 18th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
