She married (1) ROSS PAYNE 1916. He died 1949. She married (2) JAMES COLLINS 1954 in Milton-Freewater, Umatilla, OR. He died 18 Feb 1986.

Ruby Payne Collins
Hillsboro - Ruby Payne Collins, a former Athena resident, died Oct. 19th, in Hillsboro. She was 90.
A graveside service was held Friday at Athena Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Athena Baptist Church Memorial Fund may be made through Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Milton-Freewater.
Collins was born in Athena on April 10, 1897, the daughter of Bern and Mary Pinkerton Banister. Both of her parents were members of pioneer families. She lived in the Athena area her entire life and was a member of the first graduating class of Athena High School.
In 1916 she married Ross Payne and the couple farmed in the Adams area. They also had ranching interests in Joseph. During WWII, Collins worked at the Pendleton Air Base as a mechanic and received awards as an airplane spotter. Mr. Payne died in 1949.
Collins continued their farming and ranching involvement until her retirement. She married James Collins in M-F in 1954. They were noted there for their support of the high school's sports program and for their community involvement. They also received special awards from the Forestry Department. Mr. Collins preceded her in death on Feb, 1986.
She was honored as Queen of the Weston Pioneer Reunion. She was a member of the Athena Baptist Church and while in M-F, attended the Congregational Church. She was also a past member of Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Annabelle Lewis of Hillsboro and Laura Jean White of Athena; three step-sons, Ellis Collins of Bainbridge Island, WA, and David and Marcus Collins, both of Seattle, WA; three step-daughters; Melissa Jonas of Alvisa, CA; Leslie Ann Coffman of Wheatridge, CO., and Nancy Gerking of Seattle; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; 26 step-grandchildren; and 26 step-great grandchildren.
