Small world. Elmer and Mabel were my grandparents also. My father's name is Miles Dee Gerking and my mother is Joylene (Robertson) Gerking. I remember Elmer visiting a sister in Walla Walla Washington every year after Mabel passed away. Mabel's maiden name was Edwards, I have been trying to find out more about them myself. Miles has four sons Roland Ray Gerking (named after your father and Elmer) Mitchell Lee Gerking (named after my mother's father and brother) Miles Dee Gerking Jr. (self explanitory) Christopher Gerking (dad and mom just liked the name) in that order, I happen to be the youngest and the only girl. please feel free to email me, I will talk to my family more to see what I can find out Deb

Hi Ron, Don't know where to start. I never had the chance to get to know your Dad, Ross, by the time I came around mom and Miles had already separated but I did get to know Miles when Grandma Mabel passed away and he and I kept in contact until his death. As for my brothers; Ray lives in Fresno, CA, he had two sons by his first wife Matthew and Michael. Michael passed away in February of this year, which was a hard blow for Ray. Ray is remarried to a woman named Lisa and they are very happy together. Matthew finished his college and in now a teacher he is also married to a girl named Lisa lol. Mitch and Nancy live in Lemoore, just around the corner from mom. They have two sons Jeffery and Steven. Jeff is married to Alicia and he works for Kings County Sheriff's Department (just like his dad did) Mitch retired from the Sheriff's Department and now has his own Private Detective Company. Dee is living in Mena Arkansas. He's doing ok, he lost his job as a Diesel Mechanic when the company he worked for went out of business, but has been doing mechanic work from home (seems he makes more money working for himself) and is happy where he is. Chris is now Fire Captian for Kings County Fire Department. He is married to Carol and very happy. Between the Fire Department and teaching he's very busy. He lives in Clovis California. We all call each other once a month to keep up with how everyone is doing. And it's funny that you mentioned how Grandma Mabel used to laugh when she sent players back playing aggrivation. Chris and I were talking about that night before last and how Grandpa Elmer used to make the most wonderful wooden objects. Mom still has the bookshelf that he made her and the jewelry box he made for me when I was 8 ( just after mom's mother passed away), I didn't have the heart to bring it to Kansas when we moved. I didn't want it broken because it means so much to me. Next time I talk to my brothers I'll ask them if they know anything about Grandpa Elmer's family, he didn't talk to me very much about his family but I do know that when he was a child he had his eye put out by baling wire when he jumped on a bale of hay. And once a year he went to visit his sister I think she lived in Washington State, but not real sure. If you would like to email me directly please feel free to do so. I'll call Ray and Dee in a week or so and ask them if the know anything about Grandpa's family. Deb
