Clark Braden GerkingJuly 27, 1925 – July 15, 2005Clark Braden Gerking, who served in the United States Army during World War II, died July 15, 2005, at the Veterans Hospital in Walla Walla, Wash. He was 79. A graveside service was held July 21 at Canyon City Cemetery, with Pastor Denny Diezel officiating. Mr. Gerking was born in Heppner to Lillis DeFranca Slaughter Gerking and Mart Braden Gerking of Ritter. Mr. Gerking grew up on the family cattle and horse ranch near Ritter. He attended school at Three Mile, Ritter and Athena. Upon his discharge from the army, he continued ranching. He owned and operated one of his father's ranches near Ritter. He sold out and moved to Hermiston in 1962. He married Geraldine Kincaid on June 15, 1972, at Prosser, Wash. They lived in Hermiston and Dayville. Clark later moved from Dayville back to Hermiston, and then to Heppner where he most recently made his residence. He was preceded in death by both parents and wife Geraldine. He is survived by one sister, Betty A. Roach of Fossil; four step-children, Dan Radon of Merlin, Larry Radon of Kamiah, Idaho, Christine Shull of Stevensville, Mont., and Charlotte Papineau of Aurora, Colo.; numerous grandchildren and several cousins.Memorial contributions may be made to Dayville E.M.T. fund through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S.
