Memorial service for Barbara (Gerking) Martin, 83, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, with a reception at the Yates Hayden Gathering Center.
Mrs. Martin, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.
She grew up in Spokane and graduated from North Central High School. She was a cellist and as a young woman performed with various string quartets and orchestras.
It was in one of these orchestras that she met her future husband, Curtis Martin, and they lived in Spokane off and on during their 61 years of marriage. The couple also lived in Edmonds, Wash., and Aurora, Colo., before retiring to Hayden.
She was a homemaker and a Christian. She enjoyed fishing, boating, reading, camping and gardening.
Mrs. Martin was a member of the PEO Sisterhood for more than 50 years.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kathy Specht and Marilyn Pearson; and five granddaughters.
