SCARLETT, Otha C., Springs Valley Herald French Lick, IN 26 Jan 1950Otha C Scarlett, son of Bedford and Mary "Smith" Scarlett was born September 11, 1872 and departed this life January 23, 1950 at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 12 days. He spent the greater part of his life in Orange County. He was well known and a good neighbor. While here he was employed by the West Baden Springs Hotel.He leaves to mourn his departure a devoted wife, his companion for over 50 years; three daughters Vera Scarlett, Bedford, Madge Caldwell, Mundellin, IL, Genevie Noblett, Evansville and one son Jack Scarlett of Chicago, IL, one sister Stella Southern, four brothers, Alvis, Elmer, Jim and Floyd; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a host of friends.Submitted by Steve Morrison 2 Feb 2001
SCARLETT, Harriet Morrison, Springs Valley Herald 31 Dec 1964Mrs Otha Scarlett Dies in New Jersey: Mrs Harriett Lavina Scarlett, 82 widow of Otho Scarlett died Tuesday night at the home of her son in Livingston, N. J. where she had made her home the past four years. A long-time resident of West Baden and Northwest Township, she was a member of the West Baden Methodist Church.Friends may call at the Ritter Funeral Home after 2 PM Friday. The Rev. Herbert Mather will conduct funeral services at the funeral home Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery. Survivors include the son Jack Scarlett; three daughters, Miss Vera Scarlett of Bedford, Mrs Madge Caldwell of Ft Launderdale, Fla. and Mrs Genevieve Nobiltt of Evansville, a brother Ross Morrison of Windsor, Ill and nine grandchildren.

While here he was employed by the West Baden Springs Hotel.The remains were brought here Tuesday night and lay in state at the Ritter funeral palors where services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Carnet Lewis in charge.
