Arthur R. Goodfellow, age 84, died peacefully at his daughter's home in Sandy on Saturday, August 14, 2010. Art was born January 18, 1926 to Pearl Eliza Smith and Arthur Henry Goodfellow in Salt Lake City. He married Joy Schoenfeld on June 24, 1947. They recently celebrated their sixty-third anniversary. After graduating from West High School, he served his country during World War II as a Sea Bee in the Navy. He was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. After his military service, he received an accounting degree from the University of Utah. Art was employed with the IRS for thirty-five years. He was elected as District Nine Governor for the National Association of Internal Revenue Employees covering seven district offices. After retiring from the IRS, Art began his own tax consulting business which he ran until recently when his health declined. Art's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Joy. He enjoyed vacations with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Art liked taking his family camping to many of the National Parks throughout the country. He looked forward to spending time with his family. Art was very loving and a man of great integrity. Art was a loyal Ute fan for over sixty years, having been recognized as a "Super Fan" in 2005. Art is survived by his wife, Joy, his children, Robyn, Kathi, Bret (Kathy), Lori Kearsley (Neil), Lisa Howells (Tom), ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Art was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wilford, his sisters Fay Hogge and Lois Vombaur, and his infant daughter Bernita. Art will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South). Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the services. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens. Published in the Deseret News on August 17, 2010.
