Colleen "Frenchie" Filipy, 63, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away on Wednesday January 24, 2007 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Colleen Marie Slager was born on October 10, 1943 in Crookston, Minnesota, the daughter of Chester and Blanch (Valley) Slager. Colleen grew up and attended Crookston Central High School and then attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks. She worked at Western Potato in Grand Forks, and owned and operated the Jewel Case in South Forks Plaza Mall in Grand Forks and slso worked at Hugo's Grocery.

Family members of Colleen include her children; James (Terry) Filipy of Escondido, California, Shane (Amanda) Filipy of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Nicole (Chad) Shaw of Lake City Pennsylvania, three brothers; Jerome (Connie) Slager of Hawley, Minnesota, Harold and Audrey Slager of Beltrami, Minnesota, Bruce (Lisa) Slager of Kesota, Minnesota, one sister; Shirley (Gary) Matthews of Bedford Indiana and eight grandchildren. Colleen is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Philip Slager.

Colleen enjoyed the outdoors. She used the precious summer months to take walks and play at the park with her grandchildren. She touched many lives. Her friends and family were important to her and their lives enriched by knowing her.
