Notes for Patricia A Ahles

Patricia A. King, age 70, of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Patti was born on September 30, 1945 in Crookston, MN, to the late Sheldon and Lucille (Valley) Ahles. She graduated from Shanley High School in Fargo, ND and afterwards attended St. Josef’s School of Hair Design in Fargo. She worked as a hair dresser in Crookston, MN up until her marriage to Patrick King on August 31, 1968 and the family then made their home in East Grand Forks, MN. She enjoyed many crafts including counted cross stitch, knitting, beading, and holiday crafts, including her snowmen and lighted baskets. She loved making crafts for and with her grandchildren and she never left home without ongoing projects. Although due to her declining health, Patti was unable to attend mass as regularly as she would have liked; however, she had a deep faith in our Lord and was ready to be with him.

Patti is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Patrick King of East Grand Forks, MN; daughters, Jenny (Steve) Hovde of East Grand Forks, MN; and Janelle (Brian) Cheney of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Nick, Alyssa, and Caitlin Hovde and Dylan, Brynn, and Jadyn Cheney; sisters, Naom (Arly) Schlenker of Fargo, ND; Nancy (Bill) Michalski of Oslo, MN; brother in laws, James King of East Grand Forks, MN; and John (Dawn) King of East Grand Forks; sister in law, Ruth McMahon of East Grand Forks; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sheldon and Lucille Ahles; in laws, Charles E. (Barney) and Mary King; brother, Robert Ahles; brother in law, Thomas McMahon; sister in laws, Harriet Ahles, Susie King, Rita King; and nephew, Thomas King.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the Altru Staff and especially to those who spent Tuesdays and Thursdays with Patti at Altru Pulmonary Rehab.

Memorial Service: 3:00 pm ~ Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks, MN

Visitation: One Hour Before Service

Interment: Resurrection Cemetery ~ East Grand Forks, MN
