Notes for Eva Eugenie (Jean) Valley


Jean Koldingnes-Ellinger, 86, Crookston, died Monday, June 28, 1999, in Riverview Nursing Home, Crookston.

Jean Valley was born Feb. 28, 1913, the daughter of Albert and Asma (Vaudrin) Valley, in Gentilly, Minnesota. She attended rural school. She moved to Crookston, where she worked for the Crookston Hotel. She married Thomas Koldingnes on June 29, 1933, Crookston, where they lived. She worked for 30 years potato picking for the Bridgeford Farm in Byglund, Minnesota. She retired in October 1972. She also cleaned offices and homes in Crookston. Thomas Koldingnes died Dec. 19, 1968. She married Gordon Ellinger on June 19, 1970, in Crookston. They lived in Crookston. He died May 2, 1989. She moved in with the Sisters of St. Joseph at Marywood, Crookston, in April of 1997 and then to Riverview Nursing Home on June 15, 1999.

She is survived by daughters, Thelma Jean Koldingnes Zora, Las Vegas, and Mary Lynn (Ralph) Koldingnes Zainhofsky, Corsica, Texas; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Ahles, Fargo, and Martha (Felix) Baier, Greenfield, Wisconsin; a brother, Albert (Carol), Bella Vista, Arizona; sisters in law, Irene Valley and Emily Valley, both of Crookston; and brothers in law, Chester Slager, Crookston, and David Johnson, Duluth.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Lea Lindberg, Blanch Slager, Dora Isaacson, Theresa Johnson, Genevieve Kleven and Sister Rose Ann Valley; and brothers, Lloyd and Paul.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception, Crookston.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services, all in the church.

Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Crookston. (Stenshoel-Houske, Crookston)
