Notes for Lucille Marie Valley

Lucille Marie Ahles

Lucille Marie Ahles, 93, of Fargo, North Dakota, and former longtime Crookston, Minnesota resident, died early Tuesday morning, May 6, 20003, at the Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo.

Lucille was born at Gentilly, Minnesota on April 4, 1910, the daughter of Albert and Asma (Vaudrin) Valley. She grew up on the family farm, was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Catholic Church and attended the Gentilly School. On January 16, 1933 Lucille was united in marriage to Sheldon J. Ahles at St. Peter's. The couple made their home in Crookston where they owned and operated a Texaco station and had several tourist cabins. Sheldon was also employed by the Great Northern Railroad. he passed away on March 31, 1984. Lucille then moved to Fargo to be near her daughter, Naom and entered Villa Maria in May of 1994. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo and a former member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston. Lucille will be very deeply missed and very lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Family members include three daughters and sons-in-laws, Naom and Arley Schlenker of Fargo, North Dakota, Nancy and William Michalski of Oslo, Minnesota, and Patricia and Patrick King of East Grand Forks, Minnesota; a daughter-in-law Harriet Ahles of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister in law Albert and Carol Valley of Bella Vista, Arkansas; a sister and brother-in-law Martha and Felix Baier of Greenfield, Wisconsin; a brother-in-law, Chester Slager of Crookston, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law, Irene Valley and Emily Valley, both of Crookston; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Besides her husband Sheldon, Lucille was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Ahles, who died on January 16, 1995; and infant granddaughter, Linda Marie Schlenker; her parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Paul Valley and an infant brother Phillip and seven sisters, Theresa Johnson, Genevieve Kleven, Blanche Slager, Sr. Rose Ann Valley, Bora Isaacson, Lea Lindbery, and Jean Ellinger, and an infant sister Emma.

The funeral service for Lucille Ahles will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 9, 2003 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, with the Rev. David Super presiding.

Visitation will be at the Cathedral for one hour before the services.

Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Crookston.

The Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
