September 3, 1914 – Salem Weekly News

Dorson Trueblood, the son of William and Mary Trueblood, was born July 6, 1834 in Washington County, Indiana, and died August 31, 1914, aged 80 years 1 mo and 27 days. He came to Henry County Iowa with his parents in 1847 and this has been his home ever since. He was united in marriage to Lydia B. Winslow November 19, 1857 and for 57 years they trod life's pathway together. To them were born six children: John Trueblood, Henry Trueblood, Clara Lupton, Nora Trueblood, Mary E. Maxwell, and Anna W. Frazier (FAG # 35120020). Two of these, Clara Lupton and Nora Trueblood have for a number of years been with Jesus. The rest all live near the old home and were with their father during his last illness, and doing all their loving hands could possibly do for him.

He was taken sick one week ago but rallied and was around again for a few days. Wednesday he seemed quite sick and on Saturday was taken much worse, gradually growing weaker until he passed away Monday A.M. at 4:30. He realized the end was near and sang clearly the chorus of the hymn "The Cross is not Greater Than His Grace".

Dorson Trueblood was a lifelong member of the Friends, and interested in the activities of the church. His was not a public life but a life which told for good in his own home and among those who knew him best. He was even tempered, scarcely every ruffled under any circumstances.

The funeral services ere held at Wesley Chapel on September 1st at 3:00 P.M. conducted by his pastor, George J. McClellan and assisted by Bessie F. Collins, a former pastor. donated by Julie Avedikian (#46550075)
