Notes for Hazel Mary Alloway


Long time Laramie resident, “Hazel” Mary Howery, age 96 years, 11months and 24 days, passed away at 12:10 A.M., August 6, 2015, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. Cause of death: Her body was tired. Hazel was born on August 30, 1918, in Bonesteel , South Dakota, to Roy and Jossie Alloway. She had one younger brother, Marvin. Hazel spent her growing up years in South Dakota. In her lifetime she experienced the last 3 months of WWI, the Roaring 20’s, the Great Depression, the Dustbowl, WWII, and all of history that has happened between then and now. Hazel married Dudley Hamilton Howery on March 5th, 1944. They were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Bunny JoDean, in December of that same year. They welcomed their handsome son, Delmer LeRoy, in January of 1950. Hazel and Dudley were proud owners of Howery’s Jewelry store in Downtown Laramie from the early 1950’s-1982. They worked together and loved together for 39 years until Dudley passed in 1983. Hazel is survived by her children; Bunny Johnson (spouse Joe) of Laramie, and Del Howery (spouse Emily) of Pavillion, her grandchildren; Del Howery Jr, Dawn Johnson, Naomi Durrant, Christine Butler, and 13 magnificent great-grandchildren. A public viewing will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015, from 4-6P.M. The services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015, at 10:30A.M. at Montgomery- Stryker Funeral Home 2133 Rainbow Ave, Laramie, WY, 82070. Following the services a family and friend luncheon will be held at the LDS Stake Center. Please call 307-742-2479 with questions.
