Gertrude N. Frederick, 96, of Falls City, NE, passed away March 21, 2008 at Falls City. She was born January 19, 1912 at Elbing, KS to the late Edward L. and Ella May (Dunn) Rodgers. On August 24, 1933 she married Vincent B. Frederick at Falls City. Gertrude was born at Elbing and lived there until 1921 when she moved to the Reserve, KS area with her parents and family. She graduated from the Reserve High School in 1931 and then attended the Platt Gard Business School in St. Joseph, MO. The couple established their home in Falls City when married and moved to a farm northeast of Falls City in March of 1937. She moved into Falls City in 1968 and moved to Reserve in 1977 and later returned to Falls City and has lived here since. She had worked at Southside Inn and Belmont Casket factory and had been the Reserve correspondent for the Falls City Journal for many years and also the Hiawatha World. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Falls City and the VFW Auxiliary #5210 at Hiawatha, KS. Gertrude is survived by her sons, Vincent B. Frederick, Jr. of Longview, TX, Stuart J. Frederick of Northport, NY, brother, Edward L. Rodgers and wife Virginia of Nebraska City, NE, sisters, U Verna Lorenz of Reserve, Marjorie Reichardt and husband August of Creve Coeur, MO, thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Roger Frederick in infancy and a sister, Anna Wing. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2008 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Marvin Neubauer officiating. Inurnment will be in Cornelison Cemetery at Reserve.
