Jun 30, 1980 Hiawatha Daily World, p.1: LYDICK -- Mrs. Ida M. Lydick, 95, of Hiawatha, died Saturday morning, June 28, 1980, at the Oak Ridge Acres Nursing Home where she had been a resident since April. She was born December 4, 1884, at Arago, Nebr., the daughter of Joseph and Amelia Goetz Fredrick [sic]. She attended Peru State Normal College at Peru, Nebr. and the Platt-Gard Business College in St. Joseph, Mo. Later she worked as a secretary for the Jones Brothers in Kansas City, Mo. She was married to John M. Lydick February 22, 1911, at Kansas City, Mo. They lived on a farm near Hamlin until his death in 1937. In later years, Mrs. Lydick moved to Hiawatha to make her home. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and the 49'ers Extension Unit, both of Hiawatha. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Genevieve) Strahan of Hiawatha; one brother, Vincent Frederick of Pawnee City, Nebr.; a sister, Mrs. Oscar Leonard of Casper, Wyo. She was preceded in death by three brothers, William Frederick in 1968, Frank Frederick in 1957, and Irwin Frederick; two sisters, Tillie Schulenberg in 1920 and Anita Tish in 1969. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, at St. Ann's Catholic Church of Hiawatha, with the Rev. Terence Sullivan OSB as celebrant. Music was provided by St. Ann's Choir. Pallbearers were Robert Reynolds, Forrest Lydick, Vernal Vonderschmidt, Walter Schuetz, John Grathwohl and Vincent Falk. Interment was at the Falls City Catholic Cemetery, east of Falls City, Nebr. Parish Rosary service was held at the Casselman-Meek Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 29.
