Samuel E. Gerking Jr. 82, Indianapolis passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008. He was born May 12, 1925 in Indianapolis to the late Samuel and Lucille Gerking. He married Christina Todd June 11, 1949 in Indianapolis and she survives. Mr. Gerking served in the United States Navy, Air Force, and National Guard. He was a carpenter by trade and worked for Camby Postal Service for many years. He was a devoted husband and father. Other survivors include his son Michael (Vicki) Gerking; daughters Susan (Larry) Stephens, Marsha (Larry) Chapman, and Anne (George) Biggerstaff; grandchildren Michelle, David, Kristi, Kari, Marcy, Samuel, Michael, Nyle, and Natalie; great grandchildren Hope, Faith, Kristoria, Jacob, Isaac, Chole', Kierstyn, Keenan, Hayley, and Samara; brother Larry Gerking; sisters Jean Talkington, Jackie Franklin, and Dottie McGuire. He was also preceded in death by his brother Carl Gerking. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 1 in Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, with visitation 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, February 29.
