Notes for Ellen Lynn Poirier

YAKIMA - We said good-bye to Ellen on Monday, March 13, 2006, after an extended illness. Her body no longer had the strength to go on, but her spirit will live on in those she loved.
Ellen was born on December 31, 1956, in Yakima. She grew up in Moxee where she attended beauty school and worked in that field until 1985 when she returned to college. She worked at Miner's Drive-In while she attended Yakima Valley Community College where she earned an Associates Degree in accounting. She worked as an accountant at Kyle's Gun Shack and most recently at the Gear Jammer Truck Stop.
Ellen had a zest for life. She loved the outdoors and spent much of her time enjoying nature. She liked to garden and she loved to go to the mountains and beaches. She always loved to have new adventures.
Her main passion was photography. Much of her life is portrayed by her work. She was always the aunt with the camera in your face, but she knew how to make it fun. Her creativity showed in her photography and her many arts and crafts. She also had a great love for music and liked playing the keyboard and drums.
Her family was very important to her. She is survived by her father, Robert Poirier of Moxee. She is also survived by her sister and brothers, Peggy and Chuck Hart of Selah, Mike and Debbie Poirier of Oakley, CA, Pat and Erin Poirier, Tim and Mary Ann Poirier, Terry and Traci Poirier all of Moxee and Kevin Poirier of Everett. Two aunts, Mary Brazil of Hanford, CA and Sister Dominica Wise of Arkansas. Fourteen nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Thelma Poirier, and her grandparents.
Ellen was a compassionate person and had a great interest in animals. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Chimpanzee research at Central Washington University, CHCI Research, 400 E. University Way, Ellensburg, WA 98926.
A visitation with the family will be held at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home on Friday, March 17, 2006, from 6 until 8 p.m.
A private Wake will be held in celebration of Ellen's life for her family and close friends.
