Martin Knifong was appointed a Constable in Russell Co., VA. 4 June 1811 (Will book 2, page 246.Martin Knifong was appointed a Constable in Russell Co., VA. 1 June 1813 (Will book 3, page 49. The land for the Knifong family cemetery, was donated by Martin Jesse, Jr., he was the first to be buried there. The cemetery is still in use and is well maintained. An old church is at the site, and I believe the site was known as "Knifong Grove.",
