Notes for Raymond Edward Bouchey


YAKIMA - Raymond Edward Bouchey, 77, of Yakima, WA, passed away in his home on Saturday, August 19, 2006 surrounded by his family after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was born September 19, 1928 in Toppenish, Washington, to Alex and Ernestine (Poirer) Bouchey. He married Ilene Shannon in Granger, Washington, on November 29, 1949.
He began working on the farm as a child and farmed throughout his life in Harrah, Washington along with his partner and brother Paul Bouchey until 1992 when he and Ilene moved to Yakima to prepare for retirement. During his farming years, he was President of the Washington Mint Association and served on the Board of Central Valley Bank. He also served as President of the National Farmers Organization. He was a member of the Harrah Lions Club, St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, and after he and Ilene moved to Yakima, he became a member of Holy Family Parish.
Ray and Ilene shared a very special relationship and over 56 years of marriage. Their children and grandchildren were also highlights in their life. Everyone that knew Ray loved his sense of humor, the twinkle in his eyes and his unforgettable smile. He loved farming, playing with the grandchildren, traveling with family and friends, and especially dancing through the house with Ilene. When he talked like Donald Duck he won the hearts of everyone including his caregivers.
He is survived by his wife, Ilene, one brother, Paul (Barbara) Bouchey, seven children: and 20 grandchildren: Dale (Mary Ellen) Bouchey and their children, Danielle Bouchey, Susanne (Jonathan) Wagner, Mark Bouchey, Elizabeth Bouchey and Joshua Bouchey; David (Kim) Bouchey and their children, Devin (Cheryl) Bouchey and Diana Bouchey; Kathy (Mike) Johnson and their children, Janelle and Shelly Johnson; Julie (Gerry) Logan and their children Tim, Denise and Brian Logan; Marlene Bouchey and her children Kelsey and Kevin Lynch; Janice (Don) Haywood and their children, Sean Nettleton, Amanda (Barry) Kerth, Alex Nettleton, Andrea (Matt) Bernath and Levi Haywood; Annette Bouchey and her son Kenny Hahn. He is also survived by four great grandchildren: Mikayla Bouchey, Jacob Bouchey, Kylee Bernath, and Emily Bernath.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Viewing will be Wednesday from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. at Langevin- Mussetter Funeral Home.
A Vigil Service will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. The public is invited to the graveside service Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Moxee, WA. A Memorial Mass will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5315 Tieton Drive
