Mrs. Lansing attended grade school and high school in Washington State where she met J. Dee Lansing, a pre-medical student. They married on December 24, 1931. The young couple attended Walla Walla College, and after Dee completed his medical school prerequisites he entered the College of Medical Evangelists (now Loma Linda University, School of Medicine) graduating in the class of 1944B. Their son Sydney was born in 1935 and Pearl combined homemaking with various part-time jobs as a medical assistant to help support the family. Dee's medical education came during World War II, and upon graduation he was inducted into the U.S. Army. After his internship in Los Angeles County General Hospital and a residency of a few months at Sonoma County Hospital, he served 18 months in the U.S. Army at military bases in Alabama, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Florida. Their daughter DeeAnn was born in 1944 while Dee was on active duty. Pearl and family moved with her husband to each assignment. Following the War, the Lansings moved to Riverside and Dee, together with his brother Carl, opened a medical practice in San Bernardino with a branch office in Arlington. After a few months, Dee Lansing took over the Arlington practice full-time with Pearl serving as office assistant. In 1958, Dee, along with four other physicians, Franklin Dailey, Carl Eckhardt, Charles Field, and Robert Zweig founded Parkview Community Hospital in Arlington, CA. Dr. Lansing served as president for several terms, and Mrs. Lansing became the gracious first lady of Parkview Community Hospital. Pearl was active with the Riverside Assistance League, and the Loma Linda University Medical Auxiliary serving a term as president. She was an active horsewoman and involved in community affairs. She was an active member of the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist church where she held membership from 1946 to 2005. The Lansings enjoyed traveling to Israel and Egypt, Russia and Europe either with church groups led by H.M.S. Richards, Kenneth Vine, or with medical groups. Pearl returned to college in 1958, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from La Sierra College (now La Sierra University) and a Master's degree from LSU in English in 1967. She joined the faculty of the Department of English of the University, teaching for two years. Following the death of her husband she continued to live in the area until March, 2005 when she moved to Caldwell, Idaho to be with her son Sydney.
