Lela Jane Buckingham-Goodwin (Mema) PUBLISHED ON October 15, 2006 Yakima Herald-Republic (WA) YAKIMA - Lela Jane Buckingham-Goodwin (Mema) passed away quietly Thursday, from cancer.
Lela was born June 13, 1928 in Keating, OR to Carolina and Evert Larkin. She was raised in Hermiston, OR by grandparents until age 10, then with aunts and uncles until she married Berne Buckingham in 1945.
She had two children, Linda McMillan of Yakima and Steve Buckingham of Shelton. She then got remarried to Charles (Virgil) Goodwin in 1961. They lived happily for 33 years until he passed away in 1995. Lela lived on Pleasant Ave. for over 50 years.
She is survived by her children; a brother, Judge La Vern Thompson of Sacramento, CA; sister, Arlene; nine grandchildren, Lonne and Lennon Hessdorfer, Embra Belton, Shilo Potter, Brandon, Steven Aurther, Torra and Berne Buckingham, Chad Miller and 23 great- grandchildren.
A gracious and kind lady who spent her life serving Jesus and her fellow man.
Visitation will be held at Keith & Keith 9th Ave. Chapel on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 from Noon until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will also held on Monday at Keith & Keith 9th Ave. Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Private burial will be held later at Tahoma Cemetery.
