Notes for Asher Cook Stillwell

Youngest child of Sarah and Joseph Stillwell II. Some records
of the family say ther were 12 childern. One source indicates there may
have been an Anne Stillwell and that she married William Leonard on
August 27, 1818. the last name of the girl was not clear on the original
record marriage and one version of the name was Stinnette. Only 11
chldern or their heirs were shown on the final settlement of the estate of
Joseph Stillwell, II, therefore, I am only showing eleven that are sure.
If there was a 12th child it probably died before reaching maturity.
Since Asher Cook was under 21 years of age when his father died in 1822,
his eldest brother Harold was appionted his guardian to handle his estate
as an heir of his father. Asher Cook Stillwell's wife was named
Elizabeth, who was also called Eliza. They were parents of 6 childern.
See numbers 45 thru 50. Asher Cook died on March 19, 1847. after his
death his widow married Daniel B. Haines on May 22, 1850
