!Source Information from Book "The Gerking Family in America"
"The Gerkings first arrived in Oregon in 1862 from Sullivan Co. MO as part of a train of 60 wagons. According to the partial list in the book John E.L. Gerking was part of that group along with his wife Hester Wilkes and their daughters Florence Jane and Sarah Frances."

!"Hester Wilkes married John E.L. Gerking 27 October 1859, Putnam Co. MO. She was b ca 1839. MO. d 3 June 1867, French Prairie, Marion Co. OR, her death was recorded in the minutes of the Bethany Christian Church which they attended, Bur. Marion Co. OR - her grave was never found."

!"John m 2nd MRS Phoebe Ann (Harpham) Devoe (Ann) dau of J. Harpham. She was b 1849; d 19__, Algona, WA.

John was a farmer and butcher, he supplied meat for railroad crews. Disciples of Christ. 4 Children by First marriage."
