years, four children three living.

Greencastle, Putnam Co., Indiana. She was m 30 Oct 1851, d 21 sep 1908. Husband
son of James Beck and Margaret Cannady d 1903.

!LDS ANF has b as 29 Sep 1831.

!Note: Yakima Valley Museum has b as 1830.
At age forty became Yakima first public school teacher.
After raising 4 sons, adopted a little girl who only lived a year.
Took in two sisters(?) whose father had died and whose stepfater was
a man of bad disposition. Girl live with Becks until they married.
At age sixty when daughter-in-law died took in her grand-daughters.

Martha Beck enjoyed to write poetry. After the death of the little adopted girl she wrote two poems that were publish in a book of american poets..
