JEROME CUMMINGS
Jerome M. "Jerry" Cummings 83, of 121 Oxbow Road Theresa died at the home of his daughter Michelle Rice while under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County on October 3, 2014. The funeral will be Wednesday October 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of TLC Funeral Home, Inc. Calling hours will be Tuesday October 7th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born in Albion, NY on February 10, 1931 the son of George and Eva Powell Cummings. He attended school at the Pink School House in Theresa, NY. He earned his GED at 58 years of age. He served in the US Army during WWII in Alaska managing supplies. He married Vivian Beck in 1951. Mrs. Cummings died in 1983.
Mr. Cummings was an extraordinarily talented mechanic, bricklayer and carpenter. He worked for Ryan's Jet Gas in Watertown and went out of his way to assist customers. He also worked for the Watertown Teen Center to encourage kids to better themselves. He also worked for the Jefferson County DOT driving snowplow. Mr. Cummings was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post 0035.

He enjoyed fishing and socializing with anyone that had the pleasure of his company. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Pulmonary Association.

Surviving are his daughters and their spouses Mrs. Daniel (Michelle) Rice of Theresa, NY, Mrs. D.W. (Barbara) Clounch of Seattle, Washington, JoAnn Hawkins of St. Louis, Missouri, Mrs. Dante (Diane) Hebert of Kingston, Washington, Mrs. Dennis (Nanette) Rose of S. Jordan, Utah, Suzette Cummings of Seattle, Washington, his sons and their spouses Tillman and Sandy Smith of Des Moines, Washington, Michael Cummings of Chaumont, NY, Steven and Vicki Cummings of Palliyup, Washington, Shawn Cummings of Seattle, Washington, Eric Cummings of Plessis, NY and Christian Cummings of Watertown, NY. Also surviving are a brother in law Charles Hnyda of Florida and two cousins Dan Williams of Turtletown, TN, Beverly Hudson-Gorkey of Batavia, NY, his 25 grandchildren including a granddaughter Vanilla Locust of Theresa, NY and several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
